Islands of Korea, Islands of the World Uninhabited Island of the Month ISLAND Scene
Can an uninhabited island be considered less valuable simply
because no one lives there? In fact, these islands play an essential
role in defining Korea’s territorial waters and preserving marine and
ecological biodiversity. To promote awareness of their importance,
the Korea Island Development Institute and the Ministry of Oceans
and Fisheries jointly launched the “Uninhabited Island of the
Month” campaign in 2023.
