This is a collection of documents on the activities
related to the conservation of Borobudur Temple
from the 1960s to 1980s.
The conservation effort is a great example of one
of the earliest international campaigns aimed at
preserving a cultural site, with the international
community providing funds in cooperation with the
Indonesian government.
This campaign and the Borobudur Restoration Project
(1973-1983) played leading roles in the preservation
of cultural heritage until the creation of the World
Heritage Convention.
