 Overview of the Center for Research and
 Promotion of Japanese Islands
  - Official Name :
     Center for Research and Promotion of Japanese Islands   In August 2022, the Korea Island Development Institute (KIDI) invited representatives
     (公益財団法人 日本離島センター)       from the Center for Research and Promotion of Japanese Islands to the 3rd Island Day
  - Location : Nagatacho, Tokyo, Japan  Week, laying the foundation for its first international exchange initiative.
  - Membership : 136 municipalities from across Japan
                             Tsuyoshi Miki, Director of Research, and Naoki Saeki, Chief Researcher at the Center,
                             visited Gunsan—host city of the event—and participated in a range of activities. These
 02                          included a keynote presentation at the 2nd Korea Island Forum International Conference,
 Vol.                        held under the theme “Sustainable Development Strategies in the Era of Regional
                             Extinction,” as well as attendance at the KIDI Academy lecture for the Youth Advisory
                             Group and a resident-led best practices showcase for island development. They also
                             visited promotional booths celebrating Island Day.

                             This marked the very first official exchange between the two organizations. A bilateral
                             meeting was held to introduce each institution and to discuss the direction of future
                             cooperation.
